Playin' Dress Up!

Hooray! The sessions are finally being posted from the dress up day. If you haven't heard already Ruby Blue is releasing several new pieces to her store. I was lucky enough to get to be a part of the dress up session. We had the cutest little models!!! We shot twenty four mini sessions over two days. It was crazy fun! I know their mommies have been dying to see their pictures and I am excited to show them off. I plan to post a few new girls each day over the next several days. I will edit and post them as they were scheduled at our shoot. Thanks a million to all of our models and their wonderful moms.

And the biggest thank you I can muster to Trisha of Ruby Blue. She amazes me in every way. She is an incredible designer and an even more incredible person. I am a lucky girl to have her in my life.

Miss McKye...lights, camera, action

At my house we know all about little girls with lots of attitude. So when McKye's cute mom started telling me (before her session) that she worried that she would not hold still for her pictures I knew I would be able to relate to McKye completely. And you know what, she didn't sit still (not for very long anyway). And you know what else, I wouldn't have her any other way! I loved her spunky little self and think her images have so much LIFE to them. She is as adorable as they come and the little extra spice just makes her even more perfect.

Investing in puzzles!

Everyday I realize that I am one step closer to sending this guy to school and being home alone! I'll admit, there have been times when I have longed for the peace and quiet. However, I have a feeling that I will be begging for the business of five year old life when this time comes. In face, I KNOW I WILL!!! I love our time together... just the two of us. I treasure these moments as much as anything in my life.

The hours this guy spends doing puzzles astounds me. He goes from one to the next and then asks if we can find another. Many, many, many days he sits next to my desk and puzzles while I work. I love looking over my shoulder and watching him. Often he is singing to himself or rattling on about some super-hero's powers.

I love having my very own super-hero to keep my company. I am also very thankful for PUZZLES!

I also know that this time we get together is an investment! It will be one of my greatest investments!!!

Hallie and Dax

Hallie and Dax! Just hearing their names makes me smile. I love these two and can sincerely say that my life has been so much better with them in it! I taught Miss Hallie in preschool last year and she stole a great big spot in my heart. She is the sweetest little girl. She drops in every now and again (with her cute mamma and brother Dax) just to say hi, leave me a note, or a wonderful treat. The three of them have brightened more days that they will ever know. I can not thank all of you enough. Annie, you are an amazing mama and doing a fantastic job of raising two amazing kiddos. I love you to pieces!

Annie wanted to bring in their favorite toys and I think it was a brilliant idea. Snake and Dolly added so much personality to the pictures and now they will be documented forever!!!

Miss Chandler!

What can I say? Miss Chandler's pictures speak for themselves. SHE IS ADORABLE!!! She could come in everyday to play photo session and I would love, love, love every minute of it. She is a mini pro in front of the camera. I have been lucky enough to take pictures of Chandler a few times before and I was beyond thrilled when her mama asked me to take four year old pics.

Ben and Rachelle... engaged!

Hooray! We were finally able to shoot Ben and Rachelle's engagement session. We had to re-schedule once because of weather and worried that we would be re-scheduling again the night before their shoot. We lucked out and shot in-between the rolling dark clouds and the bright blue skies.

These two were so much fun to be with and didn't even break a smile when I slid down a ditch bank on my knees. I was covered in mud and they still held their composure. I deserved a good teasing but they weren't about to do it. :) Yes, I am good at embarrassing myself. Despite my mud bogging we found some beautiful spots to shoot on historic Center Street.

Jon and Ashleigh... The Proposal

This was a first for me! Jon called me a few weeks ago asking if I would photograph his proposal.

He wanted to propose at the first place that he had met his future bride. He had gone to great lengths to plan it all out while keeping it all a secret from her. I was so impressed! He had covered every detail (including hiring a photographer). He was perfectly dressed and waiting for Ashleigh to arrive for the big moment. He watched his cell phone with anticipation. Ashleigh was under the impression that she was picking him up (from his work) to leave for a date. When she arrived she was told that he had been held up a bit and was cleaning tables upstairs. She walked up the stairs to find her sweetheart waiting with a ring. It was beautiful!

I am deeply touched that I was able to be a part of their special night. I hope these images tell their story...

This little sweetness makes my heart so happy! I was worried during her session because she just did not want to give out any smiles (despite the arsenal of animals and crazy props that came out to entertain her). Once I started editing I knew it didn't matter. She could smile, not smile, cry, whatever... She is still SWEET and ADORABLE from head to toe. This is one of my favorite times of the year! I love the colors, the smells, the crisp air, cozy homes, and most of all the reminder to count our blessings and show gratitude.

My list of blessings and things that I have to be grateful for goes on and on. I am especially grateful for the journey that I have been on through my photography. I picked up my first SLR camera four years ago and I couldn't have even imagined it would go in the direction that it has. I have had so many amazing experiences and met so many new friends that I do not know how I could ever say thank you enough. I have grown not only as a photographer but also as a person. I have learned to see beauty in such a different way. I watch my children play and I notice the light that dances through their hair or across their little cheeks. I get excited about the sun rising over the mountain just to the east of my home and I have grabbed my camera a thousand times to run out the door to capture the light as it sets across the fields to the west. I love it! I love the possibility of capturing the world as I see it, especially my family!

I have not been taking extended family pictures (with the exception of a couple that had talked to me before I made this decision). I had decided that it was just too difficult to capture those wonderful family connections with such limited time and light. However, this family was a piece of cake. They are such a wonderful bunch, easy going and fun to work with.

I can not even tell the Goodliffe family enough how much I have enjoyed getting to know them better. I have shot lots of pictures for them over the past few months and each time I have come to love and admire them even more.

Scott and Karen you are amazing people and have an amazing family to show for it. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

OH, and I mentioned that one of my favorite little guys EVER was from this family. Draker was in my preschool class and he is so special to me. He makes me smile every time I see him and I have missed him dearly in school. Draker it was so much fun to get to take pictures of you and your family!!!

A Mother's Love...

I think this family is absolutely gorgeous! When Melanie and I started chatting about their family session it was easy to tell that she had done her homework. She knew the style of session she was hoping for, the colors, etc., but what struck me the most was the way she described the "feel" of the session she envisioned. I can tell you how much she loves her family and I knew that she was describing her desire to capture this love and the fleeting moments of her family as it is "NOW".

A photo session for a busy mom means lots of coordinating, clothes hunting, hair styling, bribing (if necessary and most often is), and persuading. It is an overwhelming task. However, it is one that we are all willing to take in order to capture the emotion we feel for our families and with our families. We watch our children grow and we worry that we have not done enough to teach them. We worry about them and wonder if we have given them enough to face the world. We watch our families when they are not even aware. We watch their little faces light up when they are happy, their peacefulness when they are sleeping, their energy when they are playing, and their sadness when they are hurting. We love them more than words can describe and we swell with pride when we are walking hand in hand with them! "They" are our world!

It is this emotion that Melanie was talking about. I knew that beyond the colors, the location, the styling, she just simply wanted to capture all of the things that she loves about her wonderful family. This is the amazing thing about what I get to do. I get to look into a family for a split second and see who they are; their strengths, their dreams, and their love for one another. I get to see through every mother's eyes for the time we are together. I never leave a session that I do not feel overwhelmingly grateful and I am truly grateful for the J family. Melanie, you are an amazing mother and you have an amazing family. Thank you ALL!

This family has changed the way I look at each day and I know their story will touch many others as it has me. Monica contacted me several months ago with the most beautiful email. She told the story of "the love of her life" fighting for our country in Afghanistan. He was bombed during his service and suffered extensive injuries. In fact, it was a miracle that he walked away at all. He was sent to a hospital in Texas where he would undergo several surgeries and months of therapy. Monica asked if I would take their family pictures once he was allowed home for a short leave. It still gives me goose bumps to think of that email. I was honored and touched to know that she would think of me to capture memories of such a sacred time in their life.

All of my anticipation for this session could not have prepared me for the gratitude I felt for Quinn and this family at their session. I could not imagine these two beautiful children growing up without the love of their dad and the strength of this amazing family. It is far to easy to take all that we have for granted! I know that we are naive to the hardships these soldiers and their families are facing. I also know that there are men and women like Quinn who are willing to fight for our freedoms and the blessings we enjoy everyday by living in the United States. As Quinn told his story I felt overwhelmed with gratitude. Quinn, I want you and your beautiful family to know that I am thankful for all that you have given. I know that your life has been forever changed by what you have gone through on behalf of our country. You are a hero as are the other men you were with. You are in my prayers and I wish you all of the best as you recover. Monica, my heart is full and I can not thank you enough for trusting me with your beautiful family. You are an amazing person!

Back to work! I have been visiting my sister in Missouri for the past week. It was wonderful to sneak away for a bit and spend time with family.

I love bridal sessions. It is so much fun to follow these beautiful couples around and watch them glow from head to toe as they look at one another. Karli's mom came with us and I know it was an emotional day for her. I always imagine how overwhelming it will be to watch my own daughter. I can only hope that my daughter is glowing with the same happiness that Karli and Kody seem to have.

Calendar Update...

I am now booked through the year and I am so excited for all of the fun sessions I have coming up! Scheduling will be closed until after the first of the year. I will announce when booking will begin again in January. I am also closing all print orders until November. I will open the first week of November for Christmas card ordering and any "Christmas" printing you would like to do. Orders will be taken the first week of November only. Christmas card templates will be posted the first week of November as well.

I am looking forward to this wonderful fall season and lots of time with family! As we sat eating hot chili and breadsticks tonight I felt so grateful for the chance to enjoy my little ones. This time of year reminds us to be thankful for all that we have and to cherish the moments we are able to spend with those we love. I am off to snuggle a couple of cute kids in flannel pjs. :)

I can not tell you how many times these song lyrics play through my mind. My two children are growing up right before my eyes and I worry that I am going to want ALL of it back.

I have mentioned a few hundred times on this blog that my daughter is my sunshine. She always has been and always will be. She could teach us all a thing or two about enjoying the journey. She lives to enjoy each moment of every day. She does not want to miss out on anything that might involve fun. She dottles along everywhere she goes, smelling the roses you might say. I have yet to see her in a hurry unless it involves getting to the "fun" part. In my preschool class I was reading a book called "Where's Ruby". It is about a little duck who takes her sweet time on their outing. She stops to look and explore everything. All of the other ducklings are in a big hurry to get to the end, but not Ruby. The other ducklings push and prod her to hurry. A storm comes and the ducklings become lost. They are not sure which way they should go to get back home. Ruby, however, remembers each step of their path home. She remembers all of the wonderful things she had seen along the way. Every time I read this book I think of my daughter. She will remember it all and I have a feeling SHE won't miss a thing or want anything back. She is enjoying her journey to the fullest; humming sweet little melodies to herself as she goes.

I persuaded her to let me take a few pictures of her tonight. Even this became a learning lesson for me. I wanted to "make it quick". I wanted a few priceless pictures to replace a few around the house, but I wanted it done quickly. You know, there were things to be done. SHE on the other hand decided if she were going to be my victim she would get some say in how things would go down. She wanted her doll to be in the pictures with her. Okay, grab the doll and let's snap them. Well, the doll was dressed in her cowgirl outfit and that wouldn't do. So she wanted to pick out an outfit to match and then take fifteen minutes getting her all re-dressed. I couldn't help but think how unnecessary this all was; after all, I just wanted pictures of her. I didn't care what the doll looked like. Well, looking back at all of the images we took the TWO that I snapped with the doll are my favorites. Her desire to make every situation count and to take the time to enjoy the details in our lives has taught me yet again that if I do not stop being in such a hurry I AM going to miss this.

I love this little girl for everything she is and for everything she teaches me!

Mallary & Zac... Mr. & Mrs.

Mallary is my cousin (in-law). The first time I met her she was about five years old and wearing the biggest, fullest Christmas dress ever. :) She had long blonde hair and was just as cute as she is now gorgeous. The fact that she is now married makes me feel very old.

She made the most beautiful bride and it was fun to be a part of her wedding as "photographer". Despite rain in all directions they did not have a drop through the entire wedding and reception. In fact, it was beautiful! It was fun to shoot at a wedding surrounded by family. My kids enjoyed jumping in front of the camera every now and again (not in a positive way). My hubby supplied me with drinks and snacks. I could get used to having that sort of assistance (minus the kids pulling faces in the camera or giving rabbit ears to the bride).

Thank you Mallary and Zac (and Karen) for the opportunity to shoot at your wedding. We love you both and ALL of our wonderful family. So good to see you all!!!

It made my day to open my inbox and find these wonderful images. It seems like too many of us go to all of the effort of having family pictures taken and then that is the end of the story. We spend weeks, months, and then years trying to decide what to do with the images. What to print? Where to hang them? How to arrange them?

These images made me want to immediately start digging through my own family files. Mary Jane, thank you sooooo much for sending these to me. They look amazing displayed in your home and it makes me smile from ear to ear.

Hopefully this will give a few readers ideas as well. The main images hanging on the walls are standouts. I love the clean, simple look of no frames. The small book is called an accordion book. Let me know if you have questions about these products.

Whew! What a weekend. I started by shooting a wedding on Friday morning followed by a trip to Salt Lake for a new computer. My old one which I still LOVE just couldn't keep up any longer. I have retired her to greener pastures (like playing ABC games and Power Ranger movies for my five year old). Saturday morning was a wild and crazy attempt to get the new computer running and up to speed on what would be expected of her! :) I am proud to say that I taught myself how to network two computers in the whole process. I can now pull info from my old computer to my new computer lickety split. And all this fancy techno geek stuff from someone who still uses the old slide Chocolate phone (in red I might add).

Anyway... Saturday night I drove to Idaho to shoot another wedding, after which we stayed at my mother-in-law's cabin and completely gutted her bathroom. Needless to say it is now Sunday night. I am home, in my comfy clothes and relieved to have this weekend behind me.

I have been more than happy to sit here quietly and edit baby "W"s pictures! Isn't he the sweetest little guy. His mom and dad should have a million kids because they are all adorable. I love their family and this very special addition! :) Thanks M family!!!

Honestly couldn't find a more beautiful location. I don't know how else to describe it but HEAVEN. It was absolutely wonderful just like this couple. Jewley has been planning this session for months, waiting for all of the fields to look just right. It was a photographers dream. I loved spending the evening with these two and still can not get over how in love with one another they are! I have taken pictures of their children and grand children and now I now know why their entire family is so special.

The kids are out of school today and have yet to get out of their pjs! I have decided it is just going to be that kind of day and I am perfectly fine with it. They have played outside, ate popsicles, and even made apple soup. :) I do not think you would want to eat the apple soup but I won't tell them that! My family seems to be on the run ninety percent of the time so it feels good to have time to play. And while they enjoy their day off I am in a mad attempt to get caught up on editing.

Hooray! They are married!!! It was the most beautiful day and wedding. Really! I want to do it all over again. :) They are such a darling couple and their day was perfect- everything from the weather to the lace centerpieces! It was such a beautiful day for my family and I have a very amazing family I might add. We had one of my bestest (thanks soooo much, Angie) shoot the wedding day and I can't wait to share images from the day. Congratulations Linsey and Shawn! I LOVE you BOTH!

And finally, a few more from their bridal session. Her dress is incredible and completely fit the "vintage" feel she had throughout her wedding. Aren't they a gorgeous couple!

The sash and hair piece that she wore were designed by Ruby Blue! Honestly, the most exquisite pieces I have ever seen. The sash absolutely made the dress. I have to say that I am a bit addicted to looking at wedding dresses and I have NEVER seen anything like it. Absolutely beautiful! I couldn't think of a nicer family. I have taken drill team and senior pictures for their daughter and finally got to shoot a few family pictures for them. They are such a warm and loving family. I have been impressed time and time again. I hope that when my children are their ages they get along as well as these do.

It is still hard to believe that my baby sister is old enough to be getting married! We are super excited for her and love that we will be adding a new brother-in-law to the family. If there is such a thing as a perfect newborn session this little guy holds the title! Generally I like to take newborn sessions as early as possible, but his mom and I just couldn't quite get the stars to line up. We ended up taking his at four weeks. I was prepared for lots of begging and pleading for sleepiness. Not the case at all. In fact, Holden proved my theory completely wrong. :) He was the BEST newborn from start to finish that I think I have ever had. He let me change sets, clothes, WHATEVER and just didn't care. He would grunt at me just a little and then fall fast asleep (EVERY TIME).

Thanks Holden for being such a good little guy. And thanks to Holden's sweet family for trusting me with such important pictures.

This session has to be one of my all time favorites! We had such a beautiful night to shoot. The light was amazing from start to finish. Even more amazing that the light was this FAMILY! I have known Mary Jane's sweet sister for several years now and when she told me that her sister was a photographer in Texas I had to know her too. :) We have emailed back and forth, and always talked about getting to meet one another. So, not only did I get to finally meet her but take pictures for her as well. What a beautiful family! So easy to feel love all around them. I loved watching them play together, laugh together, and just plain love one another. It was simple to capture the essence of this bond they have for one another.

I can not thank you enough "L" family! You are amazing!!!

Whew, am I glad for TODAY! I had tonsil and adenoid surgery last Friday and TODAY if the first day since that I haven't felt like I wanted to die. It has been the longest week and I am so grateful for a bit of energy today and a glimpse that things are looking better. It has made me appreciate my health and the fact that most of the time we can run 180 mph. :) I will be getting to all of my emails in the next few days and working on sessions that are waiting for their images. If you do not get an email back from me by Monday please re-send your email. It seems I had a couple of days with internet trouble while I was sick and have had a few people tell me they had emailed when I didn't get an email.

Thanks to everyone who sent get-well wishes. I appreciate you so, so, so much!

The Z Girls

These girls were some of my very first clients. I am so thankful to them for sticking with me and allowing me to be a part of so many memories. They are adorable as is their mom (and grandma). We had a fun session roaming the alley ways. The girls really had to be troopers and they were. At one point they even had music playing and were all dancing to try to stay entertained through individual pictures. I love it! Thanks AGAIN "Z" family!!!

Summer Reading

My daughter and I decided to create an outdoor "reading nook". The recipe included an old blanket, tying sheers in the trees, a favorite doll, and the BOOKS (of course). It was the perfect spot to spend our afternoon. We had just gotten everything settled when we spied one of our chickens coming in for a closer look. They are usually quite timid and stay their distance, but for some reason this little hen wanted to be a part of story hour. She came around the tree and right up to the blanket. My daughter, wanting to squeal with delight, held perfectly still as I ran to the house for my camera. What a PERFECT picture I am thinking. I was gone for all of three seconds but as I flew back out the door everything had changed. Staring at our brave, little chicken was our ornery mother cat and our 150 pound great dane, both with all kinds of ill-intent. I even watched as our cat licked her chops. Seriously!!! My first thought was in rescuing the little, red hen from becoming chicken dinner and my second thought was to save the photo. What happened was mass chaos... one daughter screaming and chasing the cat, one dog barking at the excitement, one chicken running for dear life to her coop, one photographer very, very sad. :( Needless to say that chicken told the other chickens and they all went in the coop for the rest of the night. They are probably STILL talking about the near death experience at story hour.

So I didn't capture the image that originally sent me running for my camera, but I did mange to capture several that I love just as much. :)

Has it really been two weeks already? :( It went so quickly and I enjoyed every minute of it. We have been vacationing for almost a full two weeks. It felt like a breath of fresh air. I have so many fun pictures and even more wonderful memories. Once I get all of my editing caught up I will post a few!

I will be answering emails and getting sessions out as quickly as I can.

Putting myself on "time out"!

I am officially putting myself on "time out". And yes, mothers can do this.

Only my "time out" is going to include lots and lots of rest and relaxation, and I plan to ENJOY every minute of it. I am taking the next two weeks off to try to find a little work/life balance. Things have been crazy around here and I am worried that if I do not do something about it summer will have slipped away from me. My family needs to see me doing something other than rushing out the door with a camera strapped around my neck or sitting in front of a computer screen. They need to know I am alive!!! :) I am giving myself the gift of time. I plan to take lots of pictures of my children and soak in every second of them over the next two weeks.

I will be back to my blog soon. I will answer all emails and phone calls in two weeks. Thank you for your patience! I hope you will be enjoying your summer as well.

Enough said! I am off to play with my kiddos.

Can you believe this wedding? It was fantastic. Stephanie and Josue (along with family and friends) decorated the entire thing. I could not get over all of the little details. They made sure to cover it all. The colors were so fun and happy, just like the entire day.

I was lucky enough to shoot for Stephanie and Josue on their wedding day. They are such a fun couple. I would have hated to miss out on such wonderful opportunity to meet them and their families. The day was packed and we moved from one location to the next very quickly. Stephanie and Josue never did stop smiling. :) I know that they were taking in every minute of their day and I loved watching them. They are going to have a fantastic life together! Thank you!!!

Cameron and Natalie are finally married! I am so thrilled for these two.

When Natalie described what she wanted her wedding to be like the first time we talked she said, "classy and elegant". This is exactly the way I would describe their entire wedding as well as the two of them. :) They are such a beautiful couple. I loved the peace I could feel around them on their wedding day. They were completely content and so in love with one another. I have no doubt they are headed for a wonderful, wonderful life together. Congrats you two and thank you to ALL of your amazing family.

Matt & Dani {Mr. & Mrs.}... Northern Utah Wedding Photographer

Matt & Dani are now MR. & MRS. Walker! Their wedding was beautiful. We even had the rain stop just long enough to photograph around the temple. I loved how they came out of the temple. They were overcome with happiness. Dani raised her arm and yelled out, "FINALLY". They have dated for awhile and I am sure it was wonderful to know that they were now together forever. They were married at the Bountiful temple and then had their reception at the Maddox Lodge in Brigham City. Their colors were salmon and navy. It was all picture perfect! I am so lucky to have been a part of such a fun day. Good luck to the two of you!

Vicki & Tyler {Mr&Mrs}... Northern Utah Wedding Photography

Okay, I'm about to get very sappy. I decided after Vicki and Tyler's wedding that I am extremely blessed to have the job of wedding photographer. I was so overcome with love and gratitude this day that I actually had to take several moments in the car (afterwards) to just take it all in. The thought that I am capturing moments that can never be captured again and that are timeless just boggles my mind. I think of the black and white wedding photo that sits in my grandmother's home. It is one of my favorite pictures of them and now that he is gone it is even all the more special to our family. It was a moment that was captured and has become timeless. It will be held dear by generations. The knowledge that so will some of the images that I captured of Vicki and Tyler just overwhelms me. I am very aware that this ability and talent was given to me by a loving Heavenly Father and I have never felt more aware of that than when shooting at a wedding. It brings everything into perspective. I am so, so grateful for the opportunity to be a part of such a beautiful thing.

Okay, I'm done with the mushy part. :) Vicki and Tyler had such a fantastic wedding. We started out with snow, sleet and rain at the temple. It was hard to convince anyone to hold still long enough to take pictures. It was cold and wet! We had planned to stop by the train station for pictures and I was starting to feel sick thinking that the whole day was going to be a wet, rainy mess. As we drove north through rain and snow we started to see the clouds breaking. By the time we made it to the train station it was a beautiful, warm, sunny day. Go figure! Only in Utah!!!

We went from the train station to their reception. This is the second wedding I have shot for their family in less than a year. They are amazing at putting together a wedding and I think they should now go into business. After all they have had plenty of practice. :) Thank you all for letting me all be a part of your special day.

I have been lucky enough to photography Miss Kailyn several times in her first year. I think she is absolutely beautiful, angelic! She was that way even as a newborn. Just one of those little girls that you can't stop admiring.

I loved that her mom wanted her one year pictures to be taken at their home. She has the cutest red and yellow bedroom which made a perfect backdrop for pictures. I love that these images not only captured "her" at one but also her home. I think this will make them extra special as they look back at their little princess. Great idea Angela! Thanks Skip for all of your help. :)

I thought I better hurry and get this last senior session posted before she is actually graduated! We actually had to re-schedule Baillee's session twice because of the weather, but the third time was a charm. We ended up shooting on the most beautiful night. We had GORGEOUS light for hours. Bailee is one of my all time favorite people to shoot. She is so, so, so beautiful. I can't decide which feature I would like to steal more... her tiny waist, her perfect complexion, her HAIR... Oh... I would take any of them! :)

She is as sweet as they come and her mom is too. We had quite a fun session. Baillee and I got a kick out of her mom "mothering" every little farm animal we came across. We had a lot of laughs and even a few secrets that must stay secret... right girls. ;)

Yep, it is true. I am closing shop, well for a week anyway. :) I am headed to Missouri with my baby sister. She is moving and it makes me very, very sad. It is going to be a difficult trip and I am not looking forward to the ride home.

Any of my seniors that have sent in last minute orders... they are all in and on their way! My hubby will be playing secretary while I am gone. He knows who you are and if you email he will let you know if your order is in. Just maybe cut him some slack on your packaging. I have given him the low down, but.....! :)

All other emails or phone calls will be answered when I get home.

Mother's Day Bliss!

Happy Mother's Day!!!

I told my husband all week that the only thing that I wanted for Mother's day was for THIS shoot to happen. I have been swamped with sessions this spring which is a very good thing, but I haven't had time to shoot FOR ME in a long time. I had asked Trisha of Ruby Blue if she would style for me as well as let me borrow her two little girls as models. I was nervous all week that weather wouldn't hold out for one of my senior sessions and I would have to use Saturday as a make-up day. WE LUCKED OUT! All of the stars aligned just perfectly and my Mother's day wish was granted.

So Trisha shows up with a trunk full of darling clothes and, of course, her amazing accessories. Every one of the pieces in this shoot are her design and you can find them on her site. Adding her work to a shoot changes EVERYTHING. It is like a photographers dream. Beautiful little girls all dressed up ready for their turn at the camera. Ahhh.... MOTHER'S DAY BLISS! My sweet, amazing sister drove over from a busy, hectic day so that I could add her girls to the mix. I am so grateful to these two amazing ladies for all their help. I can not wait to get all of the images up.

And to all amazing Mother's today I hope you have a wonderful day. I know that as moms we are very hard on ourselves. We work like crazy, love our families, and have the greatest desire to see the people that we love succeed. All of this and we still feel ourselves wishing we could do more and be more. It is a tireless and selfless job. One that can only be rewarded with a kiss, a hug, or an "I love you mom". These little moments are what make it all worth it.

And to my amazing Mother... I LOVE YOU, MOM! You are one of the most loving mother's the world will ever know. You have amazed me time and time again with the selfless acts you do for your FIVE daughters. You have worked so hard for us and I want you to know that we HAVE noticed. You are the first person I think of if I need advice, a tripping buddy, or a good shoulder to cry on. You are my dearest friend and have been a beautiful example to me of what a Mother should be. Thank you!!!

This is the second time I have been lucky enough to shoot with Cheyenne. She is absolutely stunning. She has the most gorgeous eyes that just light up when photographed. This next post is of one of my all time favorite seniors. We have been family friends for eight or so years and it is hard to believe she is a senior this year. I think the world of her family and of HER. She is this absolutely gorgeous girl and yet the most humble and sweet senior you will ever meet. I can't help but hope that my own daughter would follow right in her footsteps. In fact, if she turns out to be half the person that Kensi is I will consider myself very successful. :)

Kensi was thinking she wanted part of her session in some sort of "junk yard". So boy did I deliver. I drug her to acres and acres of JUNK!!! We found some of the most random things, including "THE CHAIR" (which you will see soon in a few pictures). Thanks for being a great sport Kens. Oh, and I am so glad your mom and grandma came too. You three are so much fun to be around. Thanks ALL!

Alexandra & Tyrel... BRIDALS

I was completely honored when Alexandra contacted me to do her bridals. She and Tyrel are going to school in Utah but from Las Vegas. They are getting married in Vegas but wanted me to do their bridals while they were here.

We met for the first time as complete strangers and a few hours later were laughing and having fun like a bunch of old friends. I have a feeling they have this effect on people wherever they go. They are just that way. Alexandra's mom came with us and she was just as cute, sweet, and loving. She jumped in and was scaling walls and heading into the brush to hold back branches like a real pro. Thanks Linda! You were so much help and I was so glad to have met you. I could completely relate when you were talking about your only daughter getting married. I think about that day with my little Gracie and wonder how I will handle it. :) I know just how you must have been feeling.

I am always amazed at the places and people this photography journey leads me to. I couldn't have spent the evening with a more wonderful bunch. Really, I think the world of all of you. It was very easy to feel your genuine kindness and love. Thank you, thank you, thank you. I will be thinking of you on the big day!!!

Is it any wonder why newborn sessions are one of my favorites if not THE favorite. I love them! It does help when babies like little Miss Shelby show up. She is as cute as a button and was sooooo good! She was only four days old, which by the way I HIGHLY recommend. The earlier the better! We got her nice and toasty warm and she let me play away.

I really feel so rewarded after a newborn session. I feel so lucky to be able to be a part of such an innocent little life. At four days old Shelby was like a little angel, literally! I am so grateful to her mom and dad for trusting me with these precious memories. I was able to take newborn pictures of Shelby's brother as well. Thanks Tom and Angela!!!

We used so many fun "dress" up props. Most of the headbands and the pink hat are from my favorite boutique Ruby Blue. You MUST check out her site if you haven't already. She has sent me the most amazing pieces. I am astounded at her talent. I also added a few rompers and diaper covers to my collection. All of these things are available for you to use at a newborn session!

This is Porter, my cousin's new little guy. I am soooo lucky to have gotten to spend the morning with him and his cute mom. He is such a handsome little man. I could have taken pictures of him all morning. I am finding that I LOVE newborn sessions. After the sessions I am grinning from ear to ear and feel completely rewarded. I know that they change so quickly and as a mom I know that these first images become priceless!
